An exciting opportunity has arisen in a Logistics concern for the position of Workshop Mechanic. The primary focus of the position involves managing and coordinating all service related activities of the workshop to ensure a high level of service and repair work of vehicles and generators for various strategic business units and third party customers with an objective of enhancing company reputation and image. The role involves day to day handling of repairs, overhauls, maintenance and servicing of trucks, light vehicles and generators.

Duties and Responsibilities

οƒ˜ Keeping equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tyre rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
οƒ˜ Attending to pneumatics and hydraulic problems and rear and front suspension repairs.
οƒ˜ Carrying out brake overhaul and conducting general maintenance and service of trucks and generators.
οƒ˜ Attending to vehicle breakdown and trouble-shooting all vehicle issues.
οƒ˜ Machine rebuilding & servicing.
οƒ˜ Verifying vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
οƒ˜ Complying with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
οƒ˜ Keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders and verifying receipt and quality.
οƒ˜ Containing costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts option.
οƒ˜ Performing engine overhauls including overhead adjustments and engine brake installations.
οƒ˜ Clutch installation and removal including gearbox and differential unit
οƒ˜ Breakdown attendance and heavy vehicle and generator repair & maintenance

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications, Experience and Desired Skills
οƒ˜ Diploma/Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics
οƒ˜ Class One/Two Journeyman
οƒ˜ Trade Tested
οƒ˜ At least 2 years’ experience in a similar environment
οƒ˜ Knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics
οƒ˜ Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
οƒ˜ Able to work out of hours and weekends
οƒ˜ Clean Class 2 Drivers License a distinct advantage
οƒ˜ Ability to effectively communicate with all levels
οƒ˜ High concern for order
