Fleet Scope: Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) & Commercial Haulage Fleet (12 and growing)
Reporting To: General Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Remuneration: $500/month

The Role
We are seeking an experienced, high-calibre Workshop & Fleet Manager to take full ownership of our
workshop operations, logistics scheduling, and HGV fleet. Beyond technical oversight, the successful
candidate will have direct operational responsibility for coordinating logistics trips and ensuring the fleet is
managed properly to support both commercial haulage clients and inter-company transport needs. You will
be responsible for end-to-end mechanical maintenance, preventative maintenance scheduling, route and
trip planning, regulatory compliance, driver oversight, workshop inventory control, and cost management.
This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong technical expertise in heavy transport vehicles
alongside sharp commercial and logistics coordination skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
 Directly coordinate all logistics trips, route allocations, driver scheduling, and cargo movements while
ensuring the fleet is managed properly for maximum efficiency and security.
 Develop and execute rigorous preventative maintenance schedules for all HGVs to minimize downtime and
ensure 100% roadworthiness.
 Supervise workshop mechanics and assistants. Allocate tasks, monitor repair quality, and foster safety-first
workshop practices.
 Repair and maintenance of trucks when workshop mechanics are unavailable.
 Ensure strict adherence to national road transport regulations, axle load limits, vehicle inspection protocols,
COF certifications, and safety standards.
 Manage workshop budgets, monitor fuel consumption metrics, oversee spare parts inventory, and negotiate
supplier/vendor contracts.
 Collaborate with dispatch teams and group business units to ensure fleet readiness for peak harvesting
seasons and industrial haulage demands.
 Travel out of the country to attend to HGVs for breakdowns or recoveries.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidate Requirements
 Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Fleet Management, Logistics, or
related technical field. Professional certifications (e.g., City & Guilds, Journeyman Class 1
Automotive/Diesel Specialist) highly preferred.
 Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in heavy transport (HGV/Commercial Haulage) workshop, fleet
management, and logistics dispatch, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
 In-depth diagnostic and mechanical knowledge of heavy truck chassis, diesel engines, hydraulic systems,
pneumatic braking, trailer assemblies, combined with practical route/trip planning capability.
 Proficiency with modern Fleet Management Systems (FMS), telematics/GPS tracking, dispatch scheduling,
and maintenance reporting software.
 Clean heavy vehicle driver's license (Class 2 / CE equivalent).
 Valid passport
