5 Tips for Successful Application:
-
Focus on Relevant Experiences: Your CV should highlight your degree or diploma in Purchasing and Supply management. Make it prominent and list any courses that related to procurement, stock control, or warehouse management.
-
Emphasize on Software Skills: Mention your proficiency in Pastel software & Excel and provide examples where you used them in professional context.
-
Promote Management Skills: Showcase your experience in supervising staffs or managing processes with proven outcomes.
-
Highlight Procurement Skills: Illustrate your experience in sourcing quotations via different procurement methods, providing examples of successful applications if possible.
-
Include Additional Experiences: List any experience in the accounts field, even if it's minimal as it is seen as an added advantage. Also, make sure your driver’s license is visible on your CV if you have one.
5 Important Areas to Note:
- Application Method: Note that applications are accepted by email only.
- Know the Company: The email provided indicates the company name as "repoquad", do a thorough research about the company before applying.
- Degree Importance: Despite the mention of "or equivalent" after the degree requirement, the hiring company is likely to prioritize candidates with degrees/diplomas in Purchasing and Supply.
- Software Knowledge: The job listing explicitly mentions the use of Pastel software & Excel.
- Relevant Experience: The repeated emphasis on "added advantage" illustrates the company's inclination towards candidates with accounts experience and a driver’s license.
Top 3 Things for a Standout Application:
- Professional Certifications: Obtain professional purchasing and supply chain management certifications, as these can help you stand out.
- Character References: In my experience, a reference letter from a prior employer or supervisor, particularly praising your skills in the areas of procurement and warehouse management, can boost your application's visibility.
- Personal Introduction: A strong, tailored cover letter explaining why you are interested in this position, and specifically addressing the key responsibilities and requirements can make a difference.
3 Things Novice Applicants Need to Pay Attention to:
- Understanding the Role: The job listing, at first glance, seems to be a typical warehouse management role. However, a deep reading hints at an individual who can manage not just the warehouse but also procurement, inventory control, and understand accounts.
- Software Specifications: A novice applicant might underestimate the importance of the specific software skills required, like Pastel & Excel, but in this case, they are integral to the role.
- Added Advantage Criteria: While these are not the primary skills required, a lack of experience in accounts or not having a driver's license might decrease an application’s potential. As a seasoned consultant, what I’ve noticed over time is that these ‘add-on skills’ often tip the scales in favor of the candidate who has them.
