Childline is implementing a Prevention of Drug and Substance Abuse project and intends to engage a consultant to refine and finalise a manual designed to build resilience of adolescents. The manual will provide a comprehensive curriculum focused on equipping adolescents with the knowledge, skills, and resilience needed to prevent and overcome emerging protection issues particularly drug and substance abuse. The manual will serve as a vital resource with activities and exercises to help adolescents develop a positive self-image, recognize their strengths, and build self-worth, which can act as a protective factor against substance abuse. The consultant will be expected to refine a draft that has been developed by the project staff which includes material to empower adolescents with the knowledge, tools, and support systems necessary to make informed choices, lead healthy lives and be resilient to shocks and stressors.
Objectives: The primary objective of this consultancy are as follows:
Refine and finalise the content and curriculum of the manual for improved effectiveness in building resilience in children and young people.
Deliverables:
• Refined version of the manual that incorporates key themes such as mental health, bullying and substance abuse.
• Include relevant information on additional resources, session plans, learning objectives, and guidance on facilitating interactive and participatory activities that effectively convey key messages and empower youth to make informed decisions particularly around substance abuse.
The consultant should possess the following qualifications and experience:
a. A relevant Master's degree in Social Sciences or Education is preferred.
b. Experience working in resilience building, the field of drug abuse prevention and intervention, particularly with children and adolescents.
c. Experience in developing or revising educational materials for children and young people aged 13-24.
d. Understanding of cultural sensitivity and the ability to create materials adaptable to diverse contexts.
e. Excellent written communication skills to create clear, engaging, and age-appropriate content.
f. Ability to manage the revision process effectively and meeting deadlines.
