Duties and Responsibilities
Train and supervise junior staff in the proper work methods/procedures and in the
preparation of practicals for students.
Conduct, or assist in conducting Crop Sciences and Horticulture laboratory practicals.
Source laboratory equipment and consumables.
Assist and supervise Teaching Assistants in the performance of their duties.
Assist in the setting up of apparatus/preparation of chemical reagents for research and
practicals.
Provide technical support and services for academic members of staff and researchers in
the field of Crop Science.
Maintain teaching equipment and instrument to ensure accuracy and efficient
performance.
Demonstrate the use of equipment and instrument to students and staff.
Organise field visits and practicals.
Participate in the development of quality standards and programs for the Crop Science
laboratories.
Monitor laboratory work to ensure compliance with set standards.
Check stocks of consumables and advise on re-order levels.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Science/Horticulture/Biological Sciences or any
related field.
They should be able to operate the major equipment found in a Crop Science laboratory.
The candidate must have at least two years of relevant experience working in a teaching
laboratory at tertiary levels
A Master’s degree in the related field will be an added advantage.
