The Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Technical Officer in the Chemical & Foods Technology Division. The purpose of the job is to support the effective operation of the laboratory in line with accreditation and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Carry out testing on a variety of samples including manufactured finished goods, raw materials, and ingredients.
• Evaluate and validate test methods.
• Implement and maintain the laboratory management system in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025.
• Compile and review test reports.
• Participate in inter-laboratory comparison tests, including proficiency testing.
• Participate in standards development.
Qualifications and Experience
• National Diploma in Chemistry or equivalent.
• At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience in a testing laboratory.
• Proficiency in instrumentation operation and maintenance techniques (HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-OES, Textile Instruments).
• Computer literate.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Knowledge and application of the ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory management system in a testing laboratory is an added advantage.
• BSc Honours in Chemical Technology, Applied Chemistry or equivalent is an added advantage.
