JOB SUMMARY
The Strategic Information and Research Coordinator will work as a key member of the Strategic Information and Evaluation (SIE) unit, under the leadership of the SI Manager. The candidate will be based in Harare, ZACH HQ. ZACH's activities occur primarily in the technical areas of health system strengthening; health workforce development; operations research and evaluation; prevention, care and treatment of infectious diseases. The candidate will be responsible for data consolidation, analysis and reporting; monitoring and evaluation program implementation; designing and developing database applications, coordination and supervision of data collection, processing and storage activities to ensure effective program management and performance. He/She will report to the Strategic Information Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate the implementation of provincial data collection and management processes, including data mapping, encoding, storing, processing, and analysis, in aspects specific to GIS and statistics.
• Ensure the implementation of effective information dissemination tools and data sharing among key stakeholders to help the maximum use of data and information generated by provincial HPCTS activities.
• Collaborating with provincial and district teams to compile and consolidate high quality reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
• Contribute to the design and supervise the management of databases and information systems (including geographical databases and information system coding), dataset extraction for analysis and representation.
• Act as the focal point for centralizing data from the provincial field teams for storage or to be shared with ZACH SI manager.
• Consolidating and reporting the results of triangulating intervention data and information collected using various electronic platforms, including but not limited to DHIS2, EHR and ZACH-App applications.
• Support provincial officers in identifying and analysing the availability of relevant datasets, and data and information gaps, as well as to ensure timely preparation and generation of local-level information products, and support information sharing and dissemination to all relevant channels.
• Provide specialized support to provincial officers developing and implementing thematic surveys/assessments and other IM tools (including ODK or similar platforms); using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, ensuring regular monitoring of workplans; reporting and analysing data; and preparing project status reports.
• Cleaning, verifying, and preparing data for reporting to MoHCC and supporting partners; Supporting the review and updating of Power BI reports and visualization to ensure alignment with program priorities and encourage data use in respective province.
• Respond timely to ad hoc requests for national information, statistics, and reports.
• Working closely with MoHCC and other ZACH implementing partners in strengthening the District Health Information System, tracking, and reporting both challenges and outcomes of various interventions implemented by partners in the program.
• Monitor and supervise the work of Data Entry Clerks as well as oversee the data management system in the community posts and TA sites.
• Other functions assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
• Master’s degree in any of the following areas: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Operations Research, Computer Science, Information management system; Big Data Analytics, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years working experience managing, analysing, and reporting, health related program/project data and information.
• Thorough knowledge of statistics and demonstrated ability to supervise and/or manage data collection activities and implementing quality assurance exercises.
• Strong quantitative data analysis skills, including study design and application of appropriate research methods and implementing studies according to protocols.
• Proficiency in at least one statistical software package e.g. STATA, SAS, R, Power BI, or SPSS is a must.
• Advanced skills in MS Excel, including pivot-tables, formatting, statistical functions and formulas and excellent skills in MS Word and PowerPoint.
• Great interpersonal, report writing and presentation skills with demonstrable ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience in working with MoHCC and/or implementing partner health-related programs and have a strong understanding of the Zimbabwe healthcare system structures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Database tools: Microsoft Excel and SQL should be mainstays in any data analyst’s toolbox. While Excel is ubiquitous across organizations, SQL can handle larger sets of data and is widely regarded as a necessity for data analysis.
• Programming languages like Python or R will let you handle large sets of data and perform complex equations.
• Data visualization of your findings in a clear and compelling way using Tableau, Power BI, Jupyter Notebook, and Excel, etc.
• Statistics and math: Having a solid grasp of statistics and math will help you determine which tools are best to use to solve a particular problem, help you catch errors in your data, and have a better understanding of the results.
• Ability to work well independently and within a team.
• Good knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS issues in the health sector
• Good understanding of research methodologies, research ethics
• Good attention to detail and excellent follow-through
• Strong written and verbal skills
