About the Job
ZB Financial Holdings is seeking a highly analytical and innovative professional to lead its Settlements and Reconciliations function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end reconciliation and settlement processes across banking and fintech platforms, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, effective risk management, and seamless transaction processing across multiple payment channels and partner ecosystems.

Key Accountabilities
* Lead banking projects as a technical lead for automation, integration of new technologies into existing core systems, ensuring seamless operations and minimal disruptions.
* Manage the support, maintenance, and upgrades of banking systems, ensuring their availability, performance, and security, while analysing performance metrics to identify problem areas and implement corrective actions.
* Oversee daily settlement processes for all payment streams including RTGS, ZIPIT, card transactions, mobile money, POS, ATM, agency banking, and digital wallets, ensuring timely settlement of transactions with merchants, customers, correspondents, payment schemes, and third-party providers.
* Monitor and resolve settlement exceptions within agreed service levels while investigating and resolving aged reconciliation items and unreconciled balances, maintaining accurate records and audit trails for all reconciliation activities.
* Support reconciliation and settlement processes for digital banking platforms and fintech products, ensuring seamless integration between core banking systems, payment gateways, and partner systems.
* Identify and implement robust operational controls to minimise financial losses and fraud risks, ensuring compliance with Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe regulations, payment scheme rules, AML/CFT requirements, and internal policies.
* Ensure systems align with audit and compliance requirements and lead the resolution of audit/compliance issues while identifying opportunities for process redesign, automation, reducing reconciliation breaks, and supporting digital transformation.
* Lead and develop the Settlements and Reconciliations team, building digital operations capabilities and establishing performance standards that drive a culture of continuous improvement, accuracy, and operational excellence.
* Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Finance, Commerce, Business Management, Economics, Financial Engineering, or a related field.
* A relevant Master’s qualification and professional certifications are critical.
* At least 3–5 years’ relevant managerial experience in banking operations, settlements, reconciliations, payments and/or treasury operations.
* Proven experience managing high-volume payment settlement environments, digital banking, card payments, mobile money, and electronic payment systems.
* Sound understanding of Zimbabwe’s payments landscape and relevant regulatory requirements, including RBZ regulations, anti-money laundering requirements, and international financial reporting standards.

* Demonstrated expertise in designing, managing, and overseeing end-to-end reconciliation processes across multiple banking products and payment channels.
* Extensive knowledge of domestic and international payment ecosystems, including RTGS, ZIPIT, Zimswitch, card schemes, SWIFT, and mobile money settlement processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and risk-free settlement of financial obligations.
* Ability to proactively identify operational risks within reconciliation and settlement processes, implement effective internal controls, minimise financial losses, and strengthen governance frameworks in line with enterprise risk management standards.
* Strong capability in developing robust financial control environments that promote accountability, transparency, segregation of duties, and compliance with regulatory and internal audit requirements.
* Proven skills in analysing complex reconciliation exceptions, identifying root causes, coordinating corrective actions across business units, and implementing permanent solutions that reduce recurring reconciliation breaks.
* Strong analytical capability to interpret large financial datasets, monitor reconciliation trends, produce meaningful management information, and provide actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
* Proven experience in establishing and monitoring key operational metrics and aligning reconciliation and settlement functions with a bank’s broader strategic objectives.
