Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities
Liaising and coordinating with Academic Registry;
Managing student selection, admission and registration;
Maintaining student and staff records;
Producing degree and course lists as well as teaching and examination timetables
for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;
Managing scholarship matters;
Assisting in the design of new degree structures, amendments to degree regulations, preparation of necessary documentation and monitor the implementation of these;
Monitoring of students’ progress as well as maintenance and presentation of statistical information on students and staff;
Student counselling;
Organising training workshops & seminars;
Assistance with graduation ceremonies;
Managing the recruitment of academic, technical and other staff for the School and its Departments;
Preparing draft advertisements and processing of job applications;
Servicing of Academic Appointment Boards, Selection Boards, Examiners’ Boards and other Institute Committees;
Conducting induction programmes for new staff;
Handling general personnel matters on promotions, resignations, leave;
Supervising junior staff;
Compiling relevant Reports;
Carrying out any other duties as assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have a Social Science degree from a recognised university and at least four (4) years relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in a university environment. A Master’s degree would be an added advantage. The successful candidate should be conversant with academic institutions’ procedural cycles connected but not limited to Departments, Schools, Admissions, Examinations and Centres of Excellence and have the ability to provide administrative oversight to the entire School. He or she should possess a high level of computer literacy and excellent report-writing skills.
