About Jointed Hands Welfare Organisation (JHWO)

Jointed Hands Welfare Organization (JHWO) is a local NGO (PVO 23/2013) that envisions a harm and disease-free society. JHWO implements multiple interventions across the country under the five strategic pillars: health, social development, resilient strengthening, disaster risk management, strategic information, and knowledge management. Under the health pillar, JHWO hosts the Stop TB Partnership Zimbabwe, a country-level platform coordinating country-level efforts to end TB. Working with the MoHCC National TB program (NTP) as part of the national TB response, JHWO seeks the services of research assistants to conduct data collection for the Tuberculosis Stigma Assessment in selected districts in Zimbabwe.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the TB Stigma Assessment Expert, the research assistants are expected to participate in the following activities actively:
• Training: Research assistants will undergo comprehensive training on TB stigma, the objectives of the assessment, and the tools and methods to be used and participate in a pilot.
• Community Engagement: Engage with community leaders and members to explain the assessment's purpose, build trust, and encourage participation among the sampled members.
• Survey Administration: Conduct structured interviews and surveys with individuals affected by TB, healthcare providers, and community members.
• Data Recording and Management: Accurately record all collected data, ensuring confidentiality and anonymity of participants using digital tools.
• Regular Reporting: Provide updates and daily reports to the Field Supervisor on progress and challenges to inform if any necessary adjustments to the process are needed.
• Feedback and Debrief: Participate in a debrief meeting after data collection, to document the process and conclude the assignment.
• Ethical Considerations: Ensure all activities are conducted ethically, with informed consent obtained from participants, respecting the privacy and dignity of all individuals involved in the assessment.
• Any other task as assigned by the field supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
• A degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics or related field
• Experience in administering surveys using mobile data collection platforms such as Kobo Collect, ODK, Survey Solutions
• Must be a resident of the district where data collection will take place.
• Able to speak English and the local languages in the district of residence
• Women and TB survivors are strongly encouraged to apply
