Job Description

Antimicrobials have been hailed as one of the most important discoveries in medical history as they have successfully treated many diseases promoting the health and well-being of individuals, the gains achieved through their use are now being threatened by development of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) through misuse and abuse of antimicrobials. Recent scientific observations have indicated a potentially 10 million deaths annually worldwide by 2050 due to AMR. The Biomedical Research and Training Institute (BRTI) with funding from Fleming Fund, supports to strengthen AMR surveillance to inform policy and practice at national and international levels in a One Health (OH) approach.

The One Health (OH) involves an Integrated AMR and antimicrobial use (AMU) and consumption surveillance in humans, livestock, and the environment to produce information that is interpreted by multi-sectoral teams to help understand factors associated with AMR emergence within and between sectors. This addresses laboratory infrastructure enhancement, human resource and surveillance systems strengthening, which include procurement and availing the relevant equipment, reagents and consumables recommended and needed by the MoHCC identified laboratories to produce the data evidence on the countries position on AMR. Zimbabwe is a recipient of the fund (2020-2025) to implement a national program- entitled, ‘’Addressing gaps in surveillance of antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) bacteria in Zimbabwe’’

Duties and Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:
 Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project and organizational goals.
 Manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchases.
 Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
 Evaluate suppliers based on performance, pricing, and delivery.
 Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other procurement data.
 Collaborate with internal departments to identify procurement needs and improve processes.
 Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
 Ensure that all procurements are done timeously and in line with procurement procedures including maintaining updated list of preferred suppliers.
 Obtain clear specifications from requesting departments, maintaining records and a log of common program supplies for reference, sourcing quotations, and submitting all documentation of payment requests to finance.
 Ensure an effective stock and inventory system is being used for accountability and minimizes losses and expiries.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• CIPs Certification an added advantage.
• At least two years’ experience at a similar level.
• Good technical knowledge of procurement management and follow-up.
• Ability to be thorough and ensure efficiency and effectiveness in Procurement Management
• Excellent planning and organisation skills.
• Strong Administrative skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent computer skills (Ms Packages) would be an added advantage
