CeSHHAR Zimbabwe is an organisation that specialises in population health research and programming, including on sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. CeSHHAR has an extensive national, regional, and international academic and community partnership network. CeSHHAR has a diverse range of funders which include the Wellcome Trust, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, United States NIH, UK Medical Research Council, Templeton World Charity Foundation, USAID, Global Fund for AIDS TB and Malaria, UNICEF and UNFPA. We partner very closely with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (UK), Zimbabwe's Ministry of Health and Childcare and international and regional centres of research excellence to evaluate national programmes and determine the impact, uptake, and cost effectiveness of novel reproductive health interventions.

JOB ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Midwife/ Research Manager – Climate and Health, The Research Midwife will join a range of studies under the Climate, Environment and Health Department at CeSHHAR Zimbabwe. The specific duties include perform systematic observations in maternity wards, conduct ethnographic observations and informal conversations in maternity and neonatal settings, conducting qualitative interviews in clinical and non-clinical settings Identify and enrol pregnant women for various studies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure cordial relations between the study team and health care workers at the performance sites.
• Review and assess feasibility of study protocols developed in the department.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records on agreed deliverables.
• Reviewing and analysing data during the project
• Assisting in ensuring efficient and timely analysis of results
• Provide regular fieldwork updates to the Research Coordinator
• Attend scheduled project meetings.
• Any other duties assigned by the project Principal Investigator (PI)
• Provide guidance on clinical issues/ practice relevant to the research projects.
• Provide mentorship and coaching of other study team members on clinical ethics.

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma / BSc in General Nursing.A registered general nurse with a Diploma in midwifery or equivalent post qualification training. At least 3 years proven clinical and research experience. Ability to work well as part of a team with good diplomacy. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment. Registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe. Microsoft Office packages. Self-motivated, Excellent communication skills and high respect for confidentiality. Strong interpersonal skills, especially in the areas of managing clients.
