Mine Surveyor

Job Description

Responsible for carrying out skilled surveying, update maps of the survey layout, maintaining an accurate plan of the mine, and working with the team at specified tasks to meet targets set.

Duties and Responsibilities

● Certify the accuracy of surface mining plans
● Carry out initial surveys and assessments on potential sites
● Create 3D models of mining sites using digital imaging and design software
● Prepare mine plans and liaise with relevant authorities
● Use geographic information systems to create site maps, including mine structures and deposit layers
● Identify risks and the environmental effects of mining activities within a location
● Maintain claims register and ensure beacons are maintained as per regulations
● Carry out a valuation of mineral deposits within a mine
● Update site maps and mine plans for ongoing mine development
● Advise mine owners and operators on how best to restore the landscape.
● Using instruments, take readings to determine specified locations
● Conduct surveys to obtain data used in planning mining operations
● Set out blast hole patterns as designed by management, and survey drilled holes.
● Survey and calculate volume of material deposits, stockpiles, overburden to be removed etc
● Draft maps, drawings and create database of survey data including development layouts.
● Ensure that projects adhere to all aspects of safety issues, including equipment

Qualifications and Experience

- At least a Diploma in Mine Surveying
- Ability to use Total Station, Differential GPS and Drone
- Proficiency in use of surveying software, Surpac, Auto-card or model maker
- At least 2 years experience in open cast mining
