Maintenance Planner

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has risen at Khayah Cement for suitably qualified and experienced persons for the above post, which has arisen in the Mechanical Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities
Maintenance Planner will be responsible for the following:
• Ensuring that SHE Procedures are complied with including risk assessment.
• Planning and scheduling of all maintenance activities including condition monitoring and lubrication.
• Maintaining and updating the preventive maintenance program, asset register, equipment master file, master maintenance schedule and critical spares list.
• Tracking of maintenance KPIs like availability, reliability, OEE, unit cost, PM Compliance and Work Order Closure Rate.
• Organizing equipment downtime for maintenance activities in co-ordination with the production department.
• Planning of major annual equipment overhauls.
• Initiate RCA for major plant failures.
• Budgeting and cost and overtime tracking.
• Handling of all the work requests received by the department.
• Verification of work orders for adequacy, quality and accuracy of information.
• Management of maintenance backlog to less than 25%.
• Preparation of critical reports like weekly reports, shutdown reports and paretos.
• Maintaining departmental records and statistics.
• Initiating the procurement of spares and materials.
• Initiating the engagement of third-party contractors including the scope of work and methodology.
• Ensuring that spare and materials to be procured have proper technical specifications.
• Management of subcontractors to ensure safety, output, quality and cost goals are met.
• Ensuring full usage of the Computerized Maintenance Management System.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications & skills
The Maintenance Planner should have the following qualifications:
• Engineering degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 4 years' experience in cement manufacturing/mining industry or any equivalent sector.
• In-depth knowledge of maintenance management methods, preventive and predictive maintenance and CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems).
• Knowledge of downtime analysis and good knowledge of problem-solving tools.
• Knowledge of general mechanical/electrical engineering and industrial automation.
