Legal Officer – Dispute Resolution (C3): 2 Posts

Reporting to: Head of Province

Duties and Responsibilities

Summary of Duties: Prepare Provincial Commission Oral Hearings and present case summaries of disputing parties; draft Commission resolutions and determinations for disputing parties; register farm boundary disputes and complaints on administration of agricultural land vested in the state and maintain a database of complaints and disputes; prepare and carry out farm boundary dispute investigations; compile and analyse field farm boundary submissions of disputing parties; act as an intermediary between disputing parties in terms of the Land Commission Act Chapter 20:29; and any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

Required Qualifications, Experience and Attributes: An Honours Degree in Law from a reputable university; specialisation in mediation and conciliation is an added advantage; registered with the Law Society or potential to register. Sound knowledge of Zimbabwean land law, administrative law and civil procedure; knowledge of section 297 of the Constitution and the Land Commission Act; strong legal drafting, analytical and research skills; excellent mediation, negotiation and conflict management skills; excellent report writing, communication and stakeholder engagement skills; integrity, impartiality, confidentiality and sound judgement.
