Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of Legal Consultant which has arisen within the Legal Department in our Organization. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting clients in navigating complex legal issues, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and minimizing legal risks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Advisory Services:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on various legal matters, including contractual agreements, corporate law, employment law, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to identify relevant laws, statutes, and legal precedents applicable to client cases.
- Assess potential legal risks and propose strategies to mitigate them effectively.
2. Contract Drafting and Review:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents to protect clients' interests and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Identify and address potential legal issues and loopholes in contracts to minimize risks and liabilities.
- Advise clients on contract terms, rights, and obligations.
3. Compliance and Regulatory Matters:
- Assist clients in understanding and complying with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Develop and implement compliance programs, policies, and procedures for clients to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Conduct internal audits and reviews to assess compliance levels and recommend corrective actions.
4. Dispute Resolution:
- Represent clients in legal proceedings, negotiations, and mediation processes.
- Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, and present arguments in court.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel and experts, as necessary, to build strong cases and achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
5. Legal Research and Analysis:
- Stay abreast of legal developments, changes in legislation, and case law that may impact clients' interests.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to provide accurate and up-to-date advice to clients.
- Prepare legal opinions, memos, and reports to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
6. Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing high-quality legal services and excellent customer service.
- Understand clients' objectives and tailor legal solutions to meet their specific needs.
- Manage client expectations, deadlines, and deliverables in a professional and timely manner.
1. A law degree from a recognized institution.
2. A business management qualification would be an added advantage
3. Minimum 3-5 years experience in legal practice.
4. Experience in corporate governance, employment law and commercial matters.
5. Proven ability to develop strategies to reduce potential areas of legal risk while furthering business objectives.
6. Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication (verbal & written), organisation and interpersonal skills.
7. Team player with a strong business execution focus, outstanding judgement and impeccable integrity
8. Clean Driver's license
