  1. Demonstrate Leadership: During my years of consulting, what I have noticed over time is that applicants who can show leadership capabilities, especially in a teaching or academic environment, tend to stand out.

  2. International Exposure: Candidates with exposure or connections to international academic communities can potentially add value and diversity to Zimbabwean jobs.

  3. Unique Value Proposition: It's always effective to highlight unique or niche expertise in your application to make you stand out in the pool of job offers in Zimbabwe.

Important Aspects Novice Applicants Might Miss or Underestimate

  1. Ability to Deliver Multiple Modules: Many novice candidates focus on one speciality without realising that the institution might require versatility.

  2. PhD Preference: The call for applicants progressing toward a PhD is a significant aspect that novice applicants might overlook.

  3. Industrialisation and Community Engagement: Two of the five duties and responsibilities combine both academic and practical aspect. Being able to contribute to industrial applications and community outreach could be what helps you land one of the vacancies in Zimbabwe you've been seeking.
