GENERAL MANAGER – CLOUD PLATFORMS
Econet Wireless
JOB PURPOSE
Lead the strategy, implementation and operation of Econet’s Private/Hybrid Cloud platform to improve efficiency, resilience and agility across Econet Wireless, EcoCash and Group businesses, and subsequently commercialise the platform through Enterprise Cloud services with accountability for revenue and profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop and execute the Private/Hybrid Cloud strategy and roadmap.
* Lead the end-to-end implementation of the Private Cloud platform using Google Distributed Cloud (GDC).
* Integrate Google Distributed Cloud with Google Cloud Platform.
* Lead migration of mission-critical applications across the Group.
* Improve infrastructure utilisation, automation, resilience and disaster recovery.
* Provide the cloud platform for AI products including Yamurai, CAN, NetAgent, Energy Mode and Fuel Mode.
* Develop and commercialise Enterprise Cloud services including IaaS, PaaS, DRaaS, Managed Cloud, AI Cloud, GPU-as-a-Service and Sovereign Cloud.
* Carry accountability for Enterprise Cloud revenue and profitability.
Qualifications and Experience
QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
* Relevant postgraduate/MBA qualification is desirable.
* Google Professional Cloud Architect/Engineer certification preferred.
* Google Distributed Cloud/Anthos certification is highly desirable.
* CKA, TOGAF, PMP or equivalent certifications are an advantage.
* Proven experience defining Private Cloud strategy, business case, target architecture and implementation roadmap.
* Proven track record leading end-to-end implementation of a large-scale Private/Hybrid Cloud platform, using VMware VCF/Tanzu, OpenShift, OpenStack, Nutanix, Google Distributed Cloud or equivalent.
* Demonstrated experience taking a Private Cloud from strategy and architecture through implementation, workload migration and production operations.
* Strong understanding of Kubernetes, networking, storage, IAM, cybersecurity, automation and disaster recovery.
* Experience supporting telecommunications, banking, financial services, government or other mission-critical environments.
* Experience building Enterprise Cloud or Managed Cloud services with commercial accountability.
* Google Distributed Cloud implementation experience is highly desirable but not mandatory.
* Experience working with hyperscalers and leading systems integrators.
