POST: FREIGHT FORWARDING CONTROLLER (GRADE 7)
RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will be reporting to Post Logistics Manager and will be responsible for the following, among other duties:
• To plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operation of freight forwarding issues.
• To arrange shipping documentation and oversee the schedule, dispatch and tracking of goods
• To set transportation service rates and performance indicators
• To develop plans and procedures for the transportation and storage of goods
• To negotiate with carriers, warehouse operators and insurance company representatives for services and preferential rates
• To assess freight forwarding performance based on customer feedback and implementing changes where necessary
• To establish relationships with vendors and suppliers to develop new business opportunities
• To ensure proper submission of customs documents required to facilitate clearing of imported cargo
• To manage customs documentation for clearing and forwarding
• To prepare regular reports and updates to key stakeholders across the business on all imported and exported orders/ shipment
• Coordinate Forwarding Operations with local, regional and international offices
• To service clients by advising on most effective and efficient mode of cargo movement, most appropriate routes, legislative requirements and educates on emerging trends in the industry
• To liaise with various transporters as well as other third parties for the best rates
• To work closely with, Shipping lines, customers, work colleagues and third parties including various ports and port authorities
• To manage and coordinate the timing of intra and inter-modal transfers, road, rail, sea and port activities

• Should have in depth knowledge of the ZIMRA ASYCUDA World Operations on customs processes.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management/Logistics or Equivalent,
• 3 years experience in freight forwarding business.
• A clean class 4 driver’s license is a must.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and reporting skills; Demonstrated effectiveness in holding conversations with customers and giving progress reports.
• Should have an in depth knowledge of the ZIMRA ASYCUDA World operations on custom processes.
