The Electronics Trainer is responsible for coordinating, planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive training and personal development program for students at Young Africa.
● Facilitate training that will raise the capacity and increase the self-esteem, skills, and knowledge of the youth Electronics Technology trainees.
● Providing activities that develop Electronics Technology trainees’ knowledge and skills; build capacity and independence in students.
● Preparation of detailed implementation plan for Electronics Technology trainees’ component of the IYDP with monthly and weekly breakdown of activities.
● Deliver the course throughout the year, utilizing all available resources as required for comprehensive training of young people.
● Ensure training meets required learning outcomes and prepares students for onward progression by way of trade test or professional competence certificate.
● Integration with programs and training teams for planning, implementation, and execution.
● Plan and scheme for training programmes as required.
● Deliver Electronics Technology training as required, based on direction and curriculum developed/adopted by Young Africa.
● Assigning and assessing students’ coursework, tests, exercises, and examinations.
● Deliver Electronics Technology training in various innovative and interactive ways which include participatory methodology and use of real tools, materials, electronic equipment as well as online teaching and learning using various platforms.
● Keep record of all required documents related to Electronics Technology training program, beneficiary selection, training, and post training evaluation.
● Coordinate with the Training Principal and the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, for parallel monitoring of activities as well as post training evaluation.
● Establish and maintains collaborative relationships with other organizations offering Electronics Technology programs.
● Participate in YA dissemination activities of its programmes and courses including developing interactional material as required.
● Build teams for outreach facilitation of life skills in consultation with the Programs Coordinator to ensure that program activities are in line with set objectives.
● Mainstream the YAZ Electronics Technology module into Electronics Technology training sessions so as to prepare students for active internship and participation on the job market and self-employment.
● Able to advise, educate and conduct awareness programs on any disease outbreaks and pandemics such as cholera outbreaks to the trainees.
● Carrying out first aid on students and staff as part of Electronics Technology training.
● Assist in writing, reporting, and managing grants and seek out donations to support Electronics Technology training at Young Africa.
● Establish and maintain contact and productive working relationships with community representatives, local and international organizations, beneficiaries, and employers as related to Electronics Technology training and development.
● Work collaboratively with the immediate supervisor and YA’s Finance and administration staff as required to process Purchase Requests (PR) for Electronics Technology training component.
● Keep abreast of current national initiatives and activities, develop a network of resources and contacts to further expand the Electronics Technology program.
● Explore ideas and opportunities to personalize training to increase students’ participation.
● Assist in seeking attachment for students in various Electronics Technology centres, schools, organizations and companies around the country and mainly in the local area and its environs.
● Following up and assessing students on attachment or industrial based training.
• National Certificate in Electrical Engineering plus an FETC or FETD or National Diploma in Technical Vocational Education from a Polytechnic.
• Skilled Worker Class 1 Certificate in Electrical Engineering or related trade.
• Trade testing engagement and or experience in Electrical Engineering trades will be an added advantage.
• Counselling skills and ability to counsel the trainees.
• A higher technical/trade and or teaching/training qualification or a trainer of trainers’ qualification and experience will be an added advantage.
• A mature and exemplary person who can be a role model to the trainees.
• A minimum of 3 years active Electrical Engineering training or industrial work experience where applicable.
• Candidates staying or who will be able to stay in Chitungwiza, or its nearby environs are preferred.
