Job Description

We are currently seeking for a Class 1 Electrician with great communication skills, excellent team player who is highly safety conscious and self-motivated. The individual will be responsible to coordinate electrical operations at the mine effectively and safely to ensure high productivity while enforcing adherence to all company safety and quality standards including SOPs.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Carries out site assessments, obtains scope of work and prepares BOQ for materials
 Wires and installs electric equipment
 Solar installation and repair
 Electrical fence installation and repair
 Good knowledge of phase 3 induction motors and single phase
 Knowledge in troubleshooting and maintenance of generators as back up to power including solar systems
 Knowledge of various motor starters, configuration of soft starters and VSDs
 Installs and maintains wiring, control and lighting systems
 Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers
 Identifies electrical problems with a variety of electrical devices
 Knowledge of plant instruments and configurations
 Sound knowledge in high voltage switching
 Knowledge of 33kv powerline maintenance including LT lines

Qualifications and Experience

 National certificate in Electrical Power Engineering.
 Class 1 Electrician.
 Apprenticeship training is an added advantage
 High Voltage 33KV Switching certificate is an added advantage
 HT cable jointing and termination certificate is an added advantage
 Experience with VSDs and soft starters.
 3-4 years post apprentice experience
