At Power Systems Africa, we're looking for a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team and help us deliver industry-leading engineering solutions to our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs, working closely with project/tenders/sales teams, and ensuring compliance with national and international standards.
Designing and developing electrical systems, including control panels, power distribution panels, substations, solar systems, etc
Specification and design of electrical installations ranging from LV to 33kV
Producing accurate electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using CAD software.
Modelling of electrical systems including loading, fault levels and protection coordination
Preparing technical quotations, risk assessments, and tender technical responses
Accurately survey sites, perform site inspections and monitor site works
Troubleshooting and providing technical support for electrical systems.
Collaborating with Project Teams, Sales, and Technical Teams to ensure projects are completed on time.
Documenting designs and maintaining compliance with industry and company standards.
Managing elements of project delivery and an understanding of budget costings
Writing detailed and clear reports, ensuring records and archives are maintained to company standards

Qualifications and Experience

Ideally qualified to a minimum of a degree in an Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering field. Alternatively, a Diploma / HND or an equivalent qualification as part of an Electrical Apprenticeship.
At least 2 years minimum post graduate experience
Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design.
Good project management skills
Experience in working for an engineering consulting company a very strong advantage
Strong knowledge of electrical design, switchgear, control panels, and estimating.
An understanding of industry regulations and safety standards.
