POSITION: Aviation Security Inspector
The position exists to ensure compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices contained in Annexes 17- Aviation Security and Annex 9- Facilitation, national regulations and the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP), through the application of surveillance techniques and activities
Duties and responsibilities
- Enforces compliance with Aviation Security and Facilitation Regulations and the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP).
- Conducts quality control activities on operators (airports, airlines, regulated agents, known consignors, training organizations, etc), including security inspections, audits, tests and investigations to assess compliance with the national legislation.
- Ensures that operators take appropriate corrective actions to resolve identified security concerns.
Prepare detailed reports and submit recommendations for the rectification of the problem areas identified.
- Participates in the review of security systems and measures that are prescribed in aviation security regulations, national security programmes and other documents.
- Reviews operator security programmes and procedures (airlines, airports, cargo, catering, security service provider, etc).
- Reviews and recommends amendment of security checklist for quality control purposes.
- Compiles information, reviews, and analyses statistics of security incidents to inform further decision-making as required.
- Monitors and keeps up to date with developments in aviation security technology and provide feedback as and when required
- Reviews applications of security equipment specifications by operators and recommends for approval.
Participates in aviation risk assessments.
- Participates in security training and certification activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a Security- related field
National Aviation Security Inspector's Certificate
- Certification as Aviation Security Screener an added advantage
Experience
- 5 years experience
Skills and Competences
- Sound knowledge Of ICAO Annex 17-Aviation Security and Annex 9-Facilitation SARPs.
- Knowledge of security as a discipline.
- Good communication skills.
- Highlevel of integrity
- Training skills- subject matter expertise
