About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Accountant to manage the full accounting and statutory reporting function for Elyon lubricants operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with all statutory requirements and Companies House requirements, payroll management, cash flow oversight, and supporting strategic financial decision-making across the business.

This role reports directly to the Group Finance Manager and works closely with General Manager, external auditors, and regulatory bodies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including:
Management accounts
Financial statements
Variance analysis
Annual budgets
Cash flow forecasts
Perform monthly balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
Monitor and report on operational and financial performance variances
Support group consolidation and reporting deadlines
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Manage accounts payable processes, including:
Supplier payments
Direct debits and standing orders
Reconciliations
Payment documentation
Oversee full accounts receivable function, including:
Raising invoices
Client billing
Debt collection
Receipt reconciliations
Payroll & Compliance
Process and manage payroll, including:
PAYE
Pensions
Deductions and reconciliations
Prepare and submit statutory returns including:
VAT
PAYE
Corporation Tax
Cash Flow & Controls
Manage weekly cash flow forecasting and bank reconciliations
Review and process payment requisitions in line with procurement policies
Maintain and manage the Fixed Asset Register
Implement and maintain effective internal controls and financial procedures
Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits
General Support
Work closely with the Group Finance Manager on strategic and operational finance matters
Support continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting processes

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3–7 years’ proven experience in a similar accounting role
Experience handling full accounting functions independently
Strong understanding of accounting standards (IFRS or FRS102 preferred)
Working knowledge of:
PAYE
VAT
Payroll submissions
Experience in healthcare, staffing, rental property, or service-based industries will be an added advantage
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
Strong budgeting and financial reporting skills
Sound cash flow and working capital management knowledge
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently in a remote or fast-paced environment
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Proactive, hands-on, and results-oriented approach
Familiarity with accounting software and payroll systems
Good understanding of internal controls and risk management
