Accountant
Applications are invited for the Accountant position within Baker’s Inn Retail – Southern Region, Bulawayo.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to take full charge of all key responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and management accounts.
* Manage project accounting, including CAPEX approvals, project cost monitoring, budget control, and contractor payments.
* Reconcile shop sales, cash collections, bank deposits, POS transactions, and general ledger accounts.
* Monitor inventory, food costs, stock variances, cash shortages, and operational losses, implementing corrective actions where required.
* Process supplier invoices, payments, and statement reconciliations while maintaining accurate accounting records.
* Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business performance reporting.
* Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory requirements, company policies, and accounting standards.
* Support internal and external audits and drive the implementation of audit recommendations.
* Partner with operational teams to strengthen financial controls and improve profitability.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should be in possession of the following minimum qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Accounting.
* Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or CA is required.
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Accountant within an FMCG environment.
* Strong knowledge of financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, and reconciliations.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills.
* Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* High levels of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
