Job Description

As a growing institution, TSURO Trust is committed to enhancing the capacity of its staff. To achieve this, the organization seeks a highly qualified consultant or consultancy to provide specialized training on;
Enhanced Training Framework: Epi Info, NVivo, and SPSS

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Technical Competencies
Epi Info:
β€’ Proficiency in data modelling, Power Query, and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
β€’ Expertise in creating interactive dashboards, KPIs, and visualizations tailored to M&E needs.
β€’ Experience with real-time data integration and automation of reports.
β€’ Familiarity with connecting diverse data sources such as SPSS, SQL, and cloud platforms.
NVivo:
β€’ Deep understanding of qualitative data analysis techniques, including coding, categorization, thematic analysis, and sentiment analysis.
β€’ Experience with NVivo tools like word clouds, cluster diagrams, and coding matrices for data visualization.
β€’ Knowledge of managing collaborative projects and merging analyses within NVivo.
SPSS:
Data Management Techniques

1. Data cleaning and validation: Learn to identify and handle missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies in datasets.
2. Data transformation and recoding: Understand how to transform and recode variables to suit analysis needs.
3. Data merging and aggregating: Learn to combine datasets, aggregate data, and perform data reduction techniques.

Descriptive Statistics and Data Visualization

1. Descriptive statistics: Calculate and interpret measures of central tendency, dispersion, and distribution shapes.
2. Data visualization: Learn to create informative and engaging charts, graphs, and tables to communicate findings.
Inferential Statistics

1. Hypothesis testing: Understand how to formulate hypotheses, select appropriate tests, and interpret results.
2. Confidence intervals: Learn to construct and interpret confidence intervals for means, proportions, and other parameters.
3. Regression analysis: Understand the basics of simple and multiple linear regression, including model assumptions and interpretation.

Survey Data Analysis

1. Survey data preparation: Learn to prepare survey data for analysis, including data cleaning, weighting, and scaling.
2. Survey data analysis techniques: Understand how to analyze survey data using techniques such as cross-tabulations, Chi-square tests, and logistic regression.

M&E Specific Analysis

1. Program evaluation designs: Learn about different evaluation designs, including experimental, quasi-experimental, and non-experimental designs.
2. Impact evaluation analysis: Understand how to analyze data from impact evaluations, including difference-in-differences, regression discontinuity, and propensity score matching.
3. Monitoring data analysis: Learn how to analyze monitoring data, including trend analysis, correlation analysis, and data visualization.
2. Instructional and Training Skills
β€’ Ability to design and deliver tailored training programs that meet the specific needs of M&E and finance teams.
β€’ Strong communication and presentation skills to explain complex concepts in simple, practical terms.
β€’ Experience with hands-on training approaches, including real-world exercises, case studies, and interactive Q&A sessions.
β€’ Competence in developing comprehensive training materials, such as guides, templates, and instructional videos.
β€’ Capacity to evaluate trainee progress through pre- and post-training assessments and provide constructive feedback.
3. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
β€’ Strong analytical skills to identify data patterns, trends, and insights using Epi Info, NVivo, and SPSS.
β€’ Ability to guide teams in solving real-world challenges, such as data inconsistencies, reporting issues, and project performance gaps.
β€’ Expertise in integrating insights from qualitative (NVivo) and quantitative (Epi Info and SPSS) data for holistic decision-making.

β€’ Professional certifications in Epi Info (e.g., Microsoft Certified Data Analyst) and/or SPSS (e.g., MOS SPSS Expert).

β€’ Relevant educational background, such as degrees in data science, information systems, finance, or related fields.

β€’ Knowledge of integrating Epi Info, NVivo, and SPSS with other tools, such as mobile data collection apps (Kobo Toolbox, ODK) and SQL databases.

β€’ Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during and after training sessions.

Qualifications and Experience

The consultant (s) should possess a bachelor's degree or preferably a Master’s degree in one or more of the following fields:
Data Science, Business Analytics, or Big Data Analytics, Computer Science or Information Technology – Expertise in software tools and programming relevant to Epi Info and SPSS. Statistics or Mathematics – Knowledge of quantitative analysis and statistical modelling. Social Sciences (with a focus on research or evaluation) Finance or Accounting – Applicable for training related to SPSS in financial modelling and reporting. Monitoring and Evaluation or Development Studies – Beneficial for understanding the practical applications of the tools in M&E contexts.
